    Corps of Engineers celebrates National Public Lands Day, creates habitat

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will waive day use fees at its more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 28. On this day, fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches will be waived.

    Army Corps awards $36.9 million contract for Keansburg, N.J. Shore Protection Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District awarded a $36.9 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge Dock, LLC of Oak Brook, Illinois to place approximately 1.1 million cubic yards of sand at Keansburg, New Jersey as part of an emergency shore protection project affected by Hurricane Sandy.

    Corps of Engineers reviews agreement with non-profit partners at Raystown Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District announced today that it has conducted a review of all Cooperative Joint Management (CJM) arrangements (agreements and leases) it has with its non-profit, cooperating associations at Raystown Lake. The Friends of Raystown Lake have been asked to take appropriate actions to cease expenditures of any funds generated by user fees. All operations and maintenance of Raystown Lake at Seven Points and Susquehannock Recreation Areas has reverted back to the Corps of Engineer’s staff at Raystown Lake, effective immediately.

    Corps of Engineers, National Audubon Society sign In-Lieu Fee agreement for aquatic resource impacts in Connecticut

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District and the National Audubon Society – Connecticut Chapter (NAS-CT) signed an In-Lieu Fee agreement on Aug. 21, 2013, which provides an alternative form of compensatory mitigation to those applicants seeking permits from the Army Corps of Engineers for work in Connecticut.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, has awarded a $163 million contract to contractor Walsh Construction Company, Chicago, IL., for the design and construction of a the New Cadet Barracks at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The total estimated cost including contingencies and administrative costs is $183 million.

    Army Corps awards $25.3 million contract for Belmar to Manasquan post-Sandy emergency beach replenishment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District awarded a $25.3 million contract to Dutra Dredging Company of San Rafael, Calif. to place approximately 1.5 million cubic yards of sand to restore New Jersey beaches from Belmar to Manasquan as part of an emergency shore protection project which repairs and restores previously constructed beach erosion control and storm damage reduction projects throughout the region affected by Hurricane Sandy.
