    Army Corps Offers Update on Final Major Harbor 50 Foot Deepening Contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are improving the main shipping channels in the Port by deepening them to a depth of 50 feet, allowing more efficient access to the world’s largest oceangoing ships.

    Army Corps Plumb Beach coastal storm risk reduction work to temporarily close beach and parking lot, bike lane will have detour

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District will be completing the second and final Phase of coastal storm risk reduction work at Plumb Beach in Brooklyn along the Belt Parkway through most of the rest of the calendar year, which will lead to beach and parking lot closures as well as a bike lane detour.

    Debris removal crews prepare to start 24-hour operations in Fire Island neighborhoods

    Starting March 19, residents on Fire Island will notice the debris removal crews setting up lights and generators and taking other steps to safely conduct nighttime debris removal from rights of way. This is a push to be able to meet the end of March completion goal.

    Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick, Chief of Engineers and the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, promoted Kent D. Savre, the North Atlantic Division Commander, to the rank of Brigadier General March 15 in a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases First Interim Report to Congress

    In accordance with the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act of 2013, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineeres developed and submitted to Congress the first of two interim reports, which provides the Committees on Appropriations of the House of Representatives and Senate with an assessment of authorized constructed projects and authorized projects under construction for reducing flooding and storm risks in the North Atlantic Division.
