    Beginning October 15, 2013, all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory offices will shut down due to the absence of available federal appropriations.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District will close recreation area campgrounds earlier than originally planned due to the current lack of an appropriations bill. With funds uncertain past October 31, two timelines have been adjusted in order to winterize facilities.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District is pleased to announce that today Colonial Surety Company has reached an agreement with Akima Construction Services, LLC to complete the construction of the levee closure structure at 17th Street, part of the Washington, D.C. Local Flood Protection Project.

    Army Corps awards $18.3 million contract for emergency beach replenishment: Asbury Park to Avon-by-the-Sea

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District awarded an $18.3 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois, to place approximately 1.2 million cubic yards of sand to restore New Jersey beaches from Asbury Park to Avon-by-the-Sea as part of an emergency shore protection project which repairs and restores previously constructed beach erosion control projects throughout the region affected by Hurricane Sandy.

    Currituck rescues stranded boater from James River

    It was just before midnight when the Corps dredge Currituck’s crew, sailing back from a project site on Bennet’s Creek, saw the sky light up. As the dredge chugged toward the Monitor Merrimack Memorial Bridge Tunnel on Sept. 16, a red flare spiraled into the night sky like a fire work off to the west. But this was no fireworks show – it was a signal for help.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will waive day use fees at its more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 28. On this day, fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches will be waived.
