    Corps proposes to revise, replace statewide Maine general permit for minimal impact activities within U.S. waters

    The New England District is proposing to replace and revise the statewide Maine General Permit. The revised GP would continue to authorize activities in waters of the U.S. in the state of Maine, including activities occurring within the boundaries of Indian tribal lands that have no more than minimal adverse effects on the aquatic environment.

    Public comment on eligibility criteria for projects in Rehabilitation and Inspection Program

    The Corps is continuing in the process of revising its policies relating to eligibility criteria for levee and coastal projects within its P.L. 84-99 RIP, and we are requesting stakeholder input. The Corps has published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) in the Federal Register, entitled "Emergency Employment of Army and Other Resources, Natural Disaster Procedures," to help obtain public input on the policy concepts being considered. Comments must be received on or before April 14, 2015.

    Army Corps awards second contract for Fire Island dune and berm construction project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, awarded an initial $23.4 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock of Oak Brook, Ill., earlier this month to construct the second phase of the Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet (FIMI) Stabilization Project. The second phase includes sand placement in the area of Robert Moses State Park and eastward toward the Fire Island Lighthouse. It involves construction of a wide, flat elevated berm in the area of Robert Moses State Park and a berm and dune in areas east of the park.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases report on coastal storm and flood risk in the North Atlantic region of the United States

    USACE released a report detailing the results of a two-year study to address coastal storm and flood risk to vulnerable populations in areas of the Northeast affected by Hurricane Sandy.
