    North Landing Bridge closed to vehicle traffic for repairs

    Following emergency repairs this week, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District officials said North Landing Bridge should be reopen to vehicle traffic before noon Thursday.

    NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Coastal Storm Risk Management project just got another boost from city officials and Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Col. Patrick Kinsman, district commander, and City Manager Doug Smith signed the design agreement Friday, clearing a path for the Army and Norfolk to share costs in funding and developing full designs for the first construction feature.

    The district has awarded the Virginia Beach Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project renourishment contract to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois. The bid of $22.64 million includes the placement of 1.85 million cubic yards of sand from 15th Street to 70th Street.

    NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is modifying North Landing Bridge's navigation openings to two a day Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. while ongoing repairs to the bridge are completed. These openings could last up to an hour, and motorists should plan accordingly.

    Chamber valves to be replaced at Great Bridge Lock in Chesapeake

    NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will replace three of eight chamber valves at Great Bridge Lock along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Chesapeake starting today.     The Pathways Program has three sections: Internship Program for current students; the Recent Graduates Program for people who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs (2 years from the date the graduate completed an academic course of study); and the reinvigorated Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program for people who obtained an advanced degree (e.g., graduate or professional degree) within the preceding two years. These programs, collectively the Pathways Programs, are streamlined developmental programs tailored to promote employment opportunities for students and recent graduates in the Federal workforce.
