    Work is being done in support of FEMA-led COVID-19 Pandemic Response NEW YORK— The US Army Corps of Engineers, USACE, continues to make significant progress in its efforts to support the FEMA-led response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.   • RAYSTOWN LAKE, Pa. —The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has closed or delayed the opening of Corps-owned and managed recreation sites indefinitely, effective immediately, due to the concern for public health and safety of its employees and the visiting public during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the plan is to keep day-use facilities and lake access areas open, such as boat launches, picnic areas, fishing piers, and viewing areas. These areas are, however, subject to evolving COVID-19 conditions and may need to eventually close at specific sites.

    RAYSTOWN LAKE, Pa. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has closed or delayed the opening of Corps-owned and managed recreation sites indefinitely, effective immediately, due to the concern for public health and safety of its employees and the visiting public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Justification and Approval Threshold for 8(a) Contracts changes

    The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense-Acquisitions and Sustainment released a memo today regarding class justifications for procurements. Effective immediately, for procurements valued at $100 million or less, contracting officers are not required to execute a justification and obtain approval for award of a sole source contract under the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program.
  • To further protect against the spread of the Coronavirus all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed campgrounds have begun an orderly shutdown. Individuals with paid reservations will be contacted by email and full refunds will automatically be processed by Recreation.gov with no cancellation fees.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it has begun the orderly shutdown of all USACE-managed campgrounds to protect against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019. Visitor centers, beaches, special events, and USACE-sponsored events such as shore sweeps, interpretive programs, Kids to Parks Day, Earth Day events, public meetings and other public gatherings at all USACE-managed sites and facilities have also been closed and/or put on hold until further notice.

  • UPDATE: All scheduled events at Blue Marsh Lake cancelled

    Following guidelines issued by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters, all scheduled events at Blue Marsh Lake are cancelled until further notice. This includes all previously issued Special Use Permits for organized activities such as fishing tournaments, trail races, church services, and search and rescue training. The beach area is closed to public use and large group use of the picnic areas is prohibited. Park Rangers are still on duty and will be disbursing any large groups they come upon while on patrol.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has closed or delayed the opening of Corps-owned and managed recreation sites effective immediately and lasting indefinitely due to the concern for public health and safety of its employees and the visiting public during the COVID-19 pandemic. The closures pertain to visitor centers, beaches, special events, volunteer activities, public meetings, interpretive programs and other public gatherings.
