    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District personnel hosted the STEM Essay Contest winners from Wiesbaden and Sembach middle schools Thursday at the Amelia Earhart Center in Wiesbaden, Germany. The first-place winners from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades participated in a day of hands-on activities, presentations, a mock ribbon-cutting ceremony and construction-site scavenger hunt.

The new Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe elementary and middle schools – to be followed by an American high school this coming winter – are the first to open as part of a multinational-funded venture to build a state-of-the-art campus on this NATO base by the fall of 2019.

    Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commanding general, meets with students and faculty May 14 at Patch High School in Stuttgart, Germany, as part of his European tour. The 53rd chief of engineers discussed the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, with students in an Advanced Placement biology class and later gave a pep talk to cadets in the school’s Army JROTC unit.     STUTTGART, Germany -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commanding general made a pitch to spur more interest in science, technology, engineering and math among American students during a visit May 14 to Patch High School.
