    Europe District engineer team returns as Liberia is Ebola-free

    WIESBADEN, Germany – The remaining military members on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers team sent to Liberia for Operation United Assistance made it back to Germany earlier this month, just as the West African nation was declared Ebola-free. The Europe District contingent assisted with treatment center construction and helped sustain a DOD presence that numbered 2,800 personnel at its peak.

    WIESBADEN, Germany – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has joined the fight against Ebola in West Africa. Europe District’s Forward Engineer Support Team-Advanced departed Oct. 21 for Monrovia, Liberia, to take part in Operation United Assistance, an Africa Command mission to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts at containing the virus outbreak in the region. The deployment could last up to six months.

    Forward Engineer Support Team returns from Jordan

    WIESBADEN, Germany – The eight remaining members of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District’s Forward Engineer Support Team-Advanced are back on German soil after a highly successful deployment to Jordan. The team of Soldiers, Army civilian volunteers and augmentees returned Feb. 26 following a six-month mission that included infrastructure, environmental, and airfield assessments and expansion planning to build the ally nation’s capabilities.

    Baltimore District team deploys to support an overseas contingency operation

    A nine-person team of specialists deployed Feb. 8 to support a U.S. Army -- Central Command mission. Known as the 71st Engineer Detachment now under the command of Maj. Timika Wilson, the FEST-A (Forward Engineer Support Team -- Advanced) team flew to Kuwait enroute to Amman, Jordan, to replace a similar team from Europe District.

    WIESBADEN, Germany - After a swift training stint and buildup this summer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District's Forward Engineer Support Team-Advanced is on the move again. The 16-member unit recently left for a six-month deployment to Amman, Jordan, where it's part of a special U.S. task force set up to build the nation's capabilities and help provide aid for thousands of refugees pouring in from neighboring Syria, which remains locked in a bloody civil war that's claimed more than 100,000 lives.
