    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District and The National Wild Turkey Federation, Terrace Mountain Chapter will be hosting the 23rd Annual Chris Bowser Wheelin’ Sportsmen Hunt, Saturday, Dec.14, 2024, at the Seven Points Recreation Area. During this time, the Raystown Lake Disc Golf Course and Allegrippis Trail system will be closed. Those visiting the Seven Points Recreation Area on this day are asked to wear orange and be aware of their surroundings.

    Swim Beach Closed at Blue Marsh Lake

    Swimming at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area of Blue Marsh Lake is currently restricted due to high bacteria levels. Water sample results obtained from testing on Thursday, July 18th indicated high levels of e-coli bacteria.  The swim beach will remain closed until bacteria levels return to a safe level for public use. This restriction applies only to the designated swim area.  Picnicking, boating, and other activities across the lake are not currently restricted.

This restriction applies to designated swim area.  Picnicking, boating, and other activities are not currently restricted. Visitors that choose to enter the water for activities in other areas of the lake are reminded that the water is not tested, and that swimming at Blue Marsh Lake is at one’s own risk. Updates will be provided as conditions change.

    Army Corps to conduct repairs on St. Georges Bridge; bridge to remain closed to traffic for 18 months

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District is reminding motorists, bicyclists, and nearby residents that a major repair project will commence in April at the St. Georges Bridge along the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in New Castle County, Delaware. During construction, the bridge will remain closed to all traffic for approximately 18 months. St. Georges Bridge will close to all traffic starting on April 4, 2023.

    Due to paving and construction activities involved with the rehabilitation of park roadways, the Dry Brooks Day Use Area will be closed for public access. This includes all facilities within the Day Use Area including the swim beach, pavilions, the Eyes of the Eagle Sensory Trail, and bathroom buildings. The closure will take place starting April 01, 2021 through May 28, 2021.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has closed or delayed the opening of Corps-owned and managed recreation sites effective immediately and lasting indefinitely due to the concern for public health and safety of its employees and the visiting public during the COVID-19 pandemic. The closures pertain to visitor centers, beaches, special events, volunteer activities, public meetings, interpretive programs and other public gatherings.

    Officials say though probability is low, if the District of Columbia Levee System is overtopped with flood water and breaks, it could result in loss of life, billions of dollars in damages and major disruption to the national government. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and National Park Service are hosting a public meeting Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church (400 I Street SW) to share information on flood risks, preparedness measures and evacuation procedures to people who live, work or spend any time behind the levee system near the National Mall.

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close the Deep Creek Bridge here to traffic early Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016 from 5:30 to 6 a.m. During that time, contractors will replace a portion of the wood bridge railing that was damaged by a vehicle.
