BOEM, Army Corps, and State of Maryland Enter Agreement for Sand Resources
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District (Corps) and the state of Maryland Department of Natural Resources have entered into an agreement allowing the Corps to use sand from the Outer Continental Shelf for scheduled beach nourishment as part of its Atlantic Coast of Maryland Shoreline Protection Project.

Baltimore District provides funding outlook for projects
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has announced the list of projects that will receive funding this fiscal year, as outlined in the fiscal 2017 work plan for the Army Civil Works program released May 24. Baltimore District is also sharing the projects included in the fiscal 2018 President’s Budget for Civil Works released May 23.

Michael Walsh, the Army Corps’ Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations during a group visit to the northern most part of the beach nourishment project. Discussed was what occurred during Sandy and areas exposed to tidal flooding from the Shrewsbury River on the backside of the Borough.
