Work scheduled to start in fall: Corps awards $2.4 million contract for marine traffic control radar system upgrade at its Canal office

CONCORD, Mass. An upgrade to the marine traffic control radar system at the Cape Cod Canal field office in Buzzards Bay, Mass., will be completed under the terms of a $2,493,165.31 contract recently awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.

 

Work will be accomplished by Transas USA Inc., of Bothell, Wash. Construction is scheduled to start in the fall of 2014 and extend over a 16-month period. The contract was awarded on Sept. 30, 2014.

 

The work on this project consists of upgrading system components of the marine traffic control system for the Cape Cod Canal. Several components of the radar systems will be changed and replaced with new model components, software and hardware that integrate and display data will be replaced, some components of the database system will be changed and upgraded, the working display software used by marine traffic controllers will be upgraded to a new custom software package and several cameras will be upgraded.

 

The project will be managed by the Corps under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
