Scheduled Open House and Recreation Area Opening at Tioga-Hammond & Cowanesque Lakes

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes invites the public to attend an open house on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Ives Run Visitor Information Center. Topics for the open house include meeting the new Operation Park Manager, Robert J. Schnell, along with announcing special events and the current annual opening and closing schedule of recreation areas.

The Lambs Creek boat launch, courtesy dock, comfort stations and picnic area at Tioga Lake are scheduled to open on Friday, Apr. 18, 2014. Pending weather conditions and debris removal from recent high water event, the area may open prior to the scheduled opening date.

The Ives Run Campground and Day Use area at Hammond Lake and the South Shore Recreation area at Cowanesque Lake are scheduled to open Sunday, Apr. 20, 2014. Courtesy docks will be in place at all boat launches on that date.

From April 20 to May 14, the Ives Run campground office will be staffed with volunteer Park Host with posted hours. Hawthorn Bathhouse and Pine Camp will be the only Ives Run campground restrooms open until May 15. Campground mooring slips will be available for rent beginning April 20 as well.

The Tompkins Campground at Cowanesque Lake is scheduled to open on Thursday, May 15, 2014.
