NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, will conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying Tuesday, Sept. 30, over federal properties on Craney Island, adjacent city properties, and the Churchland area of Portsmouth.
A contractor is scheduled to begin spraying at dusk, between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., in areas north of State Route 164, weather permitting.
Beekeepers in the affected areas are advised to cover their hives during spraying operations. Individuals with known allergies should remain indoors.
If weather conditions prevent spraying Tuesday, the backup date is Wednesday, Oct. 1.
