Indian River Inlet after Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy caused overwash and flooding at the north shore of the Indian River Inlet. Route 1 was closed for several days. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District helps restore the north shore by pumping more than half a million cubic yards of sand from the inlet onto the beach and constructing a dune.
