Corps, city to renourish Virginia Beach oceanfront
The district has awarded the Virginia Beach Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project renourishment contract to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois. The bid of $22.64 million includes the placement of 1.4 million cubic yards of sand from 15th Street to 70th Street.

Big Beach renourishment complete
Contractors smoothed out the last of the sand on the Virginia Beach, Va., beachfront Aug. 1, completing a beach renourishment cycle that widened the buffer between punishing storm surge and the city’s homes, businesses and tourist attractions.
