NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) invites community members to the quarterly Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting Thursday, June 11, to discuss the ongoing environmental cleanup at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot (FNOD).
The meeting, which is open to the public, is scheduled from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. at 7000 College Drive, Suffolk, Va, The public can also attend virtually.
The quarterly meeting serves as a public forum for residents, business owners, and other stakeholders to receive updates, ask questions, and provide direct feedback on the restoration of the 975-acre Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS).
Key topics for the June meeting include an update on the HRSD pipeline and the FNOD Schedule Tracker.
The FNOD, located near the former Tidewater Community College Portsmouth campus, was placed on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Priorities List (NPL) in 1997. The RAB was established two years later to ensure community involvement in the cleanup process. Board members include local residents, area businesses, property owners, and representatives from local, state, and federal agencies.
