Public comment period on Levee Safety Program Engineer Circular extended through July 27, 2020.

USACE recognizes that feedback from the public and our partners is key to the success of the USACE Levee Safety Program, and provides opportunity to build trusting and transparent relationships. As a result, USACE is extending the public comment period on the draft Engineer Circular until July 27, 2020.

The Levee Safety Engineer Circular will be available for public comment through the Federal Register. The Engineer Circular will expire two years after publication. USACE will work with its partners to implement and improve this guidance during this two-year period and issue more permanent agency guidance based on input and lessons learned.

Please note that due to ongoing concerns related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), USACE has postponed in-person stakeholder sessions until such a time they can be safely rescheduled.  USACE North Atlantic Division hosted a webinar June 2, 2020 to discuss the draft policies and procedures for theLevee Safety Program. Slides from the June 2, 2020, webinar are located here

The draft agency guidance, Engineer Circular 1165-2-218: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Levee Safety Program, is available for public comment and review.

USACE requests your feedback on this Engineer Circular. The document will be available for review through the Federal Register under docket number COE-2020-0003 found at https://www.regulations.gov. The comment period, which opened February 25, was originally scheduled to close on April 27, 2020. Due to ongoing concerns related to COVID-19, USACE has extended the public comment period on the draft Engineer Circular until July 27, 2020.
