Regional Business Director

Mr. Reinhard Koenig, SES

Mr. Reinhard Koenig was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in June 2018 and serves as the Regional Business Director for the North Atlantic Division (NAD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Mr. Koenig provides executive strategic leadership and technical expertise for the Division and its six operating districts located in Germany, New England, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Norfolk in operating as a Regional Business Center.

The Division executes engineering, design, construction, and project management for civil works, military programs, environmental programs, and international and interagency support in the Region.  He is responsible for managing the Division’s Regional Business Center operations and oversees its various centers.  In addition, Mr. Koenig is the lead liaison between regional functional boards and the six District offices.  Current construction placement exceeds $5.0 billion and is managed by a workforce of over 5000. 

Previously, Mr. Koenig served with the Missile Defense Agency as a Project Manager for a major sustainment and repair project.   Prior to that he culminated a 30-year military career as the Chief of Staff and Executive Officer to the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works).  While in the Army he served in various locations to include Alaska, Iraq, Kosovo, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Hawaii, and numerous locations throughout the United States.

Mr. Koenig holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia and is certified as a Level III Facilities Engineer. 

His awards include the Career Achievement Award in 2016 from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star Medal.
