Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes host public meetings

TIOGA-HAMMOND AND COWANSQUE LAKES — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes Project invites the surrounding communities to participate in a series of public meetings August 4 to August 7.

The purpose of these meetings is for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to listen to any suggestions or concerns that local citizens may have, and hold a forum for discussion.

The establishment of the Friends of Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes earlier this year brings new opportunities to the community. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of establishing short and long term recreation and environmental stewardships goals, and community input is valued and crucial in creating these goals.

The four meetings will be held:

• August 4, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. - Firemans Annex, 21 East Avenue, Wellsboro, PA 16961

• August 5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. - Lawrenceville Fire Hall, 9 Mechanic Street, Lawrenceville, PA 16929

• August 6, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. - Mansfield University Alumni Hall Student Center, Room 307,
31 South Academy Street, Mansfield, PA 16933

• August 7, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. - Tioga Fire Department, 7 Rarrick Drive, Tioga, PA 16946

Individuals who cannot make the scheduled meetings but would like to provide comments can do so in writing no later than August 1, 2014. Comments may be mailed to the Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes Project Office, 710 Ives Run Lane, Tioga, PA 16946, or dropped off at that location Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, comments may also be emailed to Tioga-HammondLakeWEB@usace.army.mil or faxed to (570) 835-5422.

These meetings will help to shape the future of Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes and provide a better quality of life for the surrounding community. For further information concerning these public meetings, please call (570) 835-5281.
